Are You Wasting Your Time Commenting on Blogs For Backlinks

April 30, 2009

I get surprised when I read what is written on the internet today as Search engine optimization tips. Not only most of these methods are false, they don’t simply work. And they are only intended to take money out of peoples pockets.

There are quite many companies that provide search engine optimization services. Unless you trust a SEO company, I would not advice you to try paying someone to handle your Search engine optimization needs. Except you don’t really have time, you can always handle your SEO by yourself. At least when you are starting up with your new website.

As we all know, providing quality backlinks to your website is the most important point as far as an effective search engine optimization is concerned. But do you have to put your link just anywhere because you have the chance to? Won’t it save you so much time if you know exactly where to place your links so that search engines will always give a favorable vote to your website each time they come across your links?

There are many SEO gurus who claim that commenting on blogs is a good way to build backlinks for your website. I simple laugh at that given the fact that most blogs now use the nofollow attribute. This means that when search engines meet your link with a nofollow attribute attached to it, that link will not help in your SEO efforts in anyway. Instead it may be considered a spam link!

Placing your links on 1000 different blogs that are using the nofollow attribute on their comments section will not do your website any good as far as ranking high with search engine is concerned. Instead they may consider your site as a spam website and thereby punish it to that effect. It is true that the links may help to bring you some quick traffic. But if your main intention when placing those links was SEO, then those links will not be of much help to you.

If you want to quickly build quality backlinks that can both help in your search engine optimization efforts and also provide some immediate traffic to your website, writing and submitting articles is one of the best ways to do that. Just need to make sure that the article directories you submit your articles to, don’t use the nofollow attribute.

Forums may also be of some help, but make sure you don’t only comment on other people’ post. It will help you more if you create your own interesting threads so other people can comment on. Creating a blog around your chosen niche could also help if and only if you post unique content.

If you want to succeed in your search engine optimization, make sure you don’t place your links just anywhere on the internet. As far as search engine optimization is concerned, it is better to have 2 quality backlinks, rather than having 100 spam backlinks.

Got something to say?
