1. Dig out for making Koi pond. It is important to small water fall in order to allow water circulation which is necessary for aquatic creatures. Make a sloping hill for the water fall.

2. Use plastic membrane to put inside the hole. You can buy it from hardware shop.

3. Allow the space for bacteria tank. Koi pond creates certain type of bacteria which is necessary for making the Koi pond alive.

4. Buy the pump for circulating water. This pump is necessary element for every pond. These pumps are available in many size choose according to their pumping rate.

5. Using natural rock for presenting wall effect in the pond. If you want you can use artificial rock for this purpose.

6. Now fill the pond to check if it is leaking or not. If it is not leaking add various plants and lilies to the pond area.

7. Thus Koi pond needs proper maintenance of pump after few days. Koi pond needs to clean after two weeks. The water is to be placed after 3 weeks in order to avoid the growth of insects.

You can also add tropical fish, Water Hyacinths and lotus plant to Koi pond to enhance its beauty. Plants in pond are functional as these plants live below the water line, and provide functions to pond. Some help in battle algae and put oxygen back into the water, or feed fish in the pond.
