OMEGA Seamaster Professional

August 28, 2009

I have a keen interest in high end watches and I have assembled a large collection over the years and I have bought and sold many more. Earlier this year I set up a website to record and review all the timepieces that I have and have had in the past. Below is a brief review of one of my watches and if you are interested in reading more reviews please hit the link at the bottom of this page.

I have had this Omega for a few years, I bought it new back in 2000 and apart from the first year or so that I had it I have actually worn it very little. However, the fact that I have not worn it a great deal does not mean that I do not think that it is a very good, both in looks and quality, mid-size watch. This Seamaster is a very distant relative of the original Seamaster 300 that I have reviewed on my site previously.

This watch is the mid-size version of the Seamaster made famous by Piece Brosnan in his first role as James Bond in the movie Goldeneye in 1995. The watch he wore in that film was an Omega Seamaster Quartz Professional (ref. 2541.80.00), he only actually wore that model in Goldeneye switching to a Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer (ref. 2531.80.00) for all his other Bond movies. Both of these pieces were full size at just over 40mm, the piece that I have here is slightly smaller at 36mm.

The case comes in Stainless Steel with a blue bezel with a matching blue dial which has a wave pattern effect. The Dial is very clean and well organised with distinctive luminous minute and second hands and a date function at 3 o’clock. The front of the watch is encased in a scratch resistant Sapphire crystal and the back of the watch is embossed with the Seamaster wording along with the Sea Monster/Serpent. The screw down crown is embossed with the Omega logo.

Got something to say?
