Optimize Your Article For Search Engines

Optimizing of your articles for search engines is heavily based on keyword density and placement. Search engine spiders will look at your article to detect keywords, and then display your article when people searches for those keywords.

What are keywords?

Keywords are words that appear multiple times in articles. Words that appear once aren’t keywords, because if they were, every word would be a keyword. If spiders notice a word used repeatedly in an article’s text, it determines that a user searching for that keyword would want to read your article.

Over Optimizing Articles

You can go too far, though, in optimizing articles and fall into the trap of keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing alerts spiders that you’re trying to artificially inflate your search engine ranking, which makes them penalize your site and page. If you keyword stuff too often, you might even find your other pages reduced in ranking or even blacklisted from search engines.

What is Keyword Density?

The amount of times your keyword is contained in your article is the keyword density. It is usually measured by percentages. For example, to get 5% keyword density in a 500-word article, you need to include a particular keyword 25 times. Countless resources exist that recommend different keyword densities, but you’ll have to find out on your own which density works best for you. Different webmasters swear by different densities. Pick the right keyword for your purposes, but make sure that it’s profitable without keyword stuffing.

The Right Density

After choosing a density, concentrate the keywords at the beginning and end of the article in an hourglass pattern. If your article has a good keyword density, it’ll appear higher in search engine results, getting more hits and making you more money.
