The Original Bakugan
November 2, 2009
Many parents have been getting requests for Bakugan toys and games. If you are not familiar with Bakugan it is a cartoon, a game, and a collectible toy. Now it is even a video game.
The original Bakugan cartoons are an anime TV show. But, it is now a strategy game played with cards and Bakugan balls. The first move would be to throw down a card. Then roll a ball on top of the card. When a ball lands on a card a magnet will activate the creature inside.
If you are new to this game it may be a little hard to understand. But, it is popular with the kids and fans of the show. If you spend some time actually playing with your kids you will catch on quickly. Though there are many intricacies to the rules.
If your child wants to play it is easy to get started. You will just need a basic starter kit with cards and Bakugan balls. The starter pack usually contains three of each and it will get things going. But, after a while your little one will probably want to start collecting and trading the creatures.
The collecting can become addicting and once the initial learning phase of the game is past, it is really quite consuming. This ultimately means additional purchased of spheres, cards, and other accessories.
If you still aren’t sure what this game is, here is a quick breakdown. Start the game by laying the cards on a flat surface. Roll the balls onto the cards hoping they will stop on a card so the metal strip in the card will activate the magnet in the ball and it will open to reveal the character inside.
If two opponents land on the same card it is time for battle. This is really the whole point of the game. The cards have different attributes and point values when combined with that particular character plus there are additional cards you can play during a battle to get more points.
The winner is the character with the most points and often kids will play for keeps. Remember playing marbles in the school yard? It’s the same principle. Plus this leads to the trading and collecting which has helped make this game so popular.
This game is a healthy pastime that encourages strategy and skill. Playing games helps your child develop social skills and having a hobby and something to collect is always a fun pastime as well. I even think the videos are pretty good.
